What is the teacher - student ratio?

The teacher-student ratio will be 1:15 which ensures personal attention. The full-time faculty members staying on the campus will help, plan and supervise the after-school and extra-curricular activities and look after the general needs of the students. What board is the school affiliated to?

The school is affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi that offers the CBSE certification. English is the medium of instruction and it is to be studied as the first language. The options for Second Language are Hindi/ Kannada/ Sanskrit and the same are options for Third Language. Sanskrit is to be studied as third language by those who opt for Kannada/Hindi as second language. Computer education is compulsory for all students from Grade 1 onwards.

What happens to NRI/Overseas students who don't know Hindi/Kannada or Sanskrit?

They have the option of taking French as their Second language. Note: Third Language is not compulsory for the Board examination; it is a requirement only till Grade 8. The language lab will train the students in third language skills.

How does a CBSE graduation prepare my child for further education overseas?

Most schools affiliate to either the CBSE or ICSE board as both are all- India boards (with the Head Office in New Delhi) and their public examinations are considered a benchmark all over the country. The standard is higher particularly in English, and the level of Mathematics is on par with that of IGCSE International graduate degree (Britain). In terms of preparation for education overseas, CBSE is much better than any of the State Boards.

What system of assessment does the school follow?

The system of assessment will be both continuous and comprehensive and will be so designed as to take into account, the different aptitudes and abilities of the child. Marks are not given to children in the primary grades (classes 1 - to 4); instead, they are assigned grades marked with qualitative comments on their performance. From the 5th grade onwards, students get marked for their examinations.

What is the difference (advantage) of an ICSE syllabus vis-à-vis CBSE?

An important difference between CBSE and CISCE (more popularly known as the ICSE ) is that CBSE prescribes syllabi for all classes, from grade 1 onwards, whereas the ICSE syllabus prescribes syllabi only for grades 9 and 10 (and its continuation, ISC, prescribes syllabi for grades 11 and 12). ICSE therefore thus gives a lot more freedom to its schools enrolled under it to adapt the curriculum and the teaching methodology for the benefit of the students. ISR has integrated the ICSE curriculum with the inputs from international curriculum and assessment techniques giving the ISR curriculum an international flavour.

What if my child is not a self-directed learner?

Our teaching methodology addresses all types of learners – the average, above-average and below-average. Children are given tasks and assignments based on their learning capacity. Children who are not self-directed in their learning, are placed in remedial programmes to help them cope and learn better. We also have special Language and Math Labs to ensure that children learn through practical experience, which helps them retain the information and forms a strong foundation.

How are parents involved in the educational process?

Parents are sent printed reports and updates of their child's progress in school at the end of the first term and again at the end of the academic year, via e-mail, app letters and reports. The reports are based on inputs from teachers who interact with the child in the classrooms and dormitory on a regular basis. They reflect the performance of the student over the course of the term, and give a clear picture of his or her progress. The reports are meant to be descriptive and constructive rather than judgmental.


Please describe the Laboratory facilities?

The science labs are well designed, spacious and well-equipped, and in the computer lab, every student has an exclusive computer to use. The computer lab has modern multimedia systems. It also has a collection of CDs for self-learning, and a LAN facility to network the campus. Students and faculty have facilities to download the required information through the Internet.

What Library facilities are available?

A modern and well-endowed library consisting of over 10,000 carefully selected books is available, with a qualified and enthusiastic librarian to guide the children. Our Digital library has a collection of audio/video cassettes and CDs which are available for students to prepare for projects, presentations etc.

Are health care and utility services available on the campus?

There is a well-equipped infirmary with a Nurse on full time duty, Doctors on call, and a regular health supervision routine. ISR has a tie-up with local hospitals and those in Bangalore (for further investigation). Regular check-ups are carried out to monitor students' progress. Arrangements are made for tailoring of uniforms, providing books, stationery etc.

What are the sports facilities available?

Students can choose from a wide option of sports and games. What is the Telescope Tower?

A staircase leads to the Telescope Tower at the top of the Academic Block. The mounted Telescope allows children to gaze into the hills, while the NANDI HILLS peak can be clearly seen from the Telescope. Children are also encouraged to study the stars and celestial bodies at night. Learning about constellations, watching meteorite showers and comets flashing through the night sky will fire the imagination of the children. What is the normal admission procedure?

Admission is granted on the basis of an interview and an entrance evaluation conducted by the school. Overseas students may be granted admission based on their previous school records, but will undergo a similar evaluation before being allocated a class.
